Description
So I saw this World War II propaganda poster that warned allied soldiers about the dangers of prostitutes and picking up women, within it the implicit sexism of the day. Being the nerd that I am I thought, how can I transfer that feeling into the Star Trek universe? Thus the "Scan her before you slam her" poster was born! I am very pleased with how it all come out, and this was a lot more work than I thought it would be.
Admittedly, the slogan is rather crude and arguably even more sexist than the original poster, though as a fake propaganda piece for the star trek universe I think it does the job. It grabs your attention, sticks (mostly) to the language of the raw recruit, and plays on implicit sexist and even racist undertones (I.E. all Orion women are slutty whores).
As with much of my work I don't know which section to put this in. Pinups, sci-fi, (twisted) humour? Ah well...

I don't know about you but to me this give a whole new meaning to a docking maneuver. Other then that great set up character the whole nine yards.

Let us not forget the curious cases of "Caitian Cooties" (ak.a. 15 Lynxian fleas) with which overly friendly felinoids can infest us. Admittedly, it is not an STD as sexual contact is not required, merely the sharing of grooming items such as combs or brushes. Odds are though, one will not get infested unless one is visiting the "wrong side of the mag-rails", where upstanding cadets shouldn't be in the first place. (One might not "get" this unless they remember the Filmation animated series, recently released on DVD.) Quite clever! Even before I opened the image, the title and the thumbnail had me thinking about the sci-fi equivalent of WWII STD films. Sincerely, Bill
