Description

Forbidden Planet is a 1956 science fiction film and a subsequent novelization by W.J. Stuart. The film features a number of spectacular special effects (Oscar nominated), groundbreaking use of an all-electronic music score, and the first screen appearance of the famous Robby the Robot and the C-57D cruiser. The film had as its centerpiece the C-57D, a "hyperspace" cruiser that was, for all intents and purposes, a classic flying saucer. But the C-57D represents the first time in American cinema that a "flying saucer" was flown by the good guys. Portraited here is the C-57D cruiser making its own eclipse, one of the most famous shot of the movie. Coments are welcome and... HAPPY NEW YEAR! I was a kid when this hit the local theater and it made a big impression. The special effects were like nothing ever seen before and it wasn't till Star Wars that another film made as big an impression. Thank you for the wonderful memories.

A great sci-fi film regardless of the era. In many ways, no one has really been able to top it. Excellent.

Anyone who has seen this movie will recognize the moment you have captured here immediately. Not only is this painting highly accurate in referance to the source material, but it also captures the feel of the scene extremely well. I have given a score of '5' due to the excellent execution and professionalism displayed within the image.
