Description

The Earth is actually nearer the sun in January than it is in June -- by three million miles. Pretty much irrelevant to our planet. What causes the seasons is something completely different. The Earth leans slightly on its axis like a spinning top frozen in one off-kilter position. Astronomers have even pinpointed the precise angle of the tilt. It's 23 degrees and 27 minutes off the perpendicular to the plane of orbit. This planetary pose is what causes all the variety of our climate; all the drama and poetry of our seasons, since it determines how many hours and minutes each hemisphere receives precious sunlight

This is a wildly surreal and creative image. Interesting info about the tilt that causes our seasons. Seems the 'tiilts' in life are always what cause the drama and poetry.:o) CC

It also determines if a solar collector will work. Amazingly, there is as much sunlight at 60 degrees as there is at the tropics when the sun is shining. It's cloud cover that makes the difference in total sunlight hitting the ground. You just tip your array to subtend the same area. Do I seem to be contradictingdanob? I don't think so. I'm just adding what I experimented with after the ancients went to sleep.

Other style, and fantastic vision of two worlds in the same time... Really beautiful Danny, futurist place. I was asking me about the climate modification some hours ago. I've seen a report about the Polar Bears... who will die because of the reheating of the planet, and can't find anything to eat. It's terrible.... 40% of the Artic has disapeared in 20 years !!! In how many time the rest of the ice will resist ? All that really make me angry, we are all responsable of that, but too many persons don't want to change anything in they way of life. Crazy world ! what will we let to the children ? Oupsssssss sorry, it's not the time, and the place for that. It's your composition who make me think to that.
Hugs my friend

I did a double-take when I saw this as I thought it must be one of Ges's uploads. It's a stunner, no idea how you did it but I'm glad you did! If I remember my astronomy correctly it was a massive planetary impact that caused the tilt in the axis, possibly the one that resulted in the moon being formed. What a boring place to live this would be without that catastrophic prehistorical event! No seasons, no tides....
