"Thundering1"...?!
A bit too much bravado, perhaps...? Maybe some machismo gone awry?!
Nope - it's the username that stuck. I'm a freelance photographer/Photoshop guy who wants to start an FX company named Thundering Images.
One of my first internet accounts I tried to start, "thundering" was taken, but "thundering1" worked... I kept it because, for no other reason, it was easy to remember... ;-)BIOMajored in Photography&Filmmaking in '94, and I've only put ONE to good use - hoping to change that soon with a new group of like-minded people!
A friend turned me on to Bryce (V2 at the time), I've recently discovered Vue5 Infinite, and (wishing to further my modelling and rendering capabilities) purchased Softimage|XSI Foundation (Feb '05), and recently Cinema4D XL.
And noting how special effects are put together, I firmly believe each piece of software I use can only create an element(s) - not the whole finished picture, so expect my stuff to be pieced together from multiple apps, with EXTENSIVE Photoshop work.
I love all things art, so I thoroughly enjoy going through the galleries as often as I can. I'm thrilled to have found such a large community of artists, and experts to help me get better at whatever I hope to learn.
As busy as I am, it takes me a while to finish something I think is good enough to post, but I hope you enjoy the results.
Take care all, and enjoy the ride!
-Lew ;-)

I forgot to mention - the dark brown "boxes" on the walls are where I'm going to place pictures. These are for size and placement at this point (note that one of them over the door is slightly crooked).

Plants, flower boxes, cat/dog/birds in cage, magazines under the coffee table and coffee on top, cushions on the seating, a poker set near the fireplace etc etc. Excellent lighting and texture, the carpet looks very good.

A great room and lighting. I agree about the fireplace, the rocks and texture look 2 dimensional to me and want a displacement map. I would image that if I lived there I would also want some kind of window blind system or curtains available.

Chrispoole and kenwas are both very observant. I would make the same suggestions. A displacement map on the fireplace would alleviate the 2D effect. The place definitely needs plants, a little junk here and there, a log in the fireplace, tussled cushions and some art or photographs in frames. You might also blur the rocks in the background picture, it would give some depth of field. I really love the picture. The late afternoon lighting is exquisite.

All of the above. I'd also add a little noise to the image in a program like photoshop to give it a more photographic look. Also play about with the colour levels in photoshop to effect the lighting. Very nice designs by the way.

Aaaargh!! Thanks everyone! I was so involved in getting the architecture to look real that I was lost once I got beyond putting some furniture in there - I need STUFF!! Thanks again - there'll be an update in a couple of days. Lew ;-)

beautiful render!

I agree with kenwas, the stone texture on the fireplace really needs a displacement map. Plants would really make this a home, because it is set in a somewhat rural environment. I would think about a different texture on the front chairs, perhaps some black leather. It looks very brown overall, some perhaps a little more variation in texture colors. Besides from that, a really excellent render. Love the design here, something different than all the cold designer homes. My compliments!

I don't think that you need more stuff in here. If you listen to me I would do the following: - what really botheres the observer (althought you might not know) is that you have afternoon lights in the room, but broad daylight in the background. Try to set an afternoon image for background. Also add some luminosity to the backgr. image. - the firepalce is obviously 2d picture, use bumps (displacement maps are messy)Also, you canot put stones like this on a fireplace, use a timber lintel in the front. - the noise texture on the carpet is to obviously repetitive. Try something bigger. - the armchair in the fron looks too small compared to the seats.
