Description

Have you ever tried so hard to create an image but it just didn't work? I am not happy with this at all but I spent so many days working on it that I wanted to post it. Here's why: The millenium baby. The baby figure does not look like a baby to me. Babies are compact and chubby with no neck and large pupils...little cuddles of joy. So I see this unbelievably cute baby in an advert and I wonder if I can make the Mil Baby into what I see in the ad. Not quite, unfortunately. I can't get the nose right nor the mouth closer to the chin by manipulating in Bryce so I have to resort to some postwork I've never tried before. Without completely distorting the face, this is what I came up with. Biggest Faux Pas is that my baby is sitting straight upright without any body shifting when it should have that plopped baby on a couch look, lol. Hubby says it looks like a doll. Only clothes I had was the Rumplestiltskin outfit so the baby has a Russian flavor to it. Curious3D pillow and plaids from Bonbonish Christmas freebie. I would love to see any baby images that others think look like infants. You can share them here. Edit!!! I just had to add a link to the inspiration piece. You just have to see this gem. I want to scoop her up and run off with her, lol. http://burpee.sitesled.com/avalon/tommy.jpg

Thanks for such kind words and tips everyone! I have torn this baby apart in Bryce so there's no changing the pose or expression. If I ever use the baby again, I will pay particular attention to the pose though!

It looks pretty good from here. Perhaps moving the shoulders up a bit might help give it that plopped down look, but you've really done a splendid job! The baby is so cute!

I think it's quite cute, Nancy! The colors are vivid, and the subject matter is contagiously mirthful. Besides, it's been a while since you've done kitty cats.

Nancy this so beautiful friend and totally understand your problems with Bryce, I also have problems with the fine details of the end results of my work, ie looks perfect on final render but lose detail when I upload. But all in all I think this is really well done in all aspects. Bravo!!!...:))

It may look more like a doll then a baby, but it is wonderful nevertheless! In fact, I think I prefer seeing it as doll! It's a total delight to behold!

Nancy!!!! Don't be so hard on yourself. It is a fantastic image. The stylised features suit the illustration style finished to a T. The whole doll thing might be the pose as well. A slightly more animated pose might make it look better to you. A pose that a doll wouldn't be able to do easily. Hope that makes sense. Like the baby reaching for the cats ears as kids usually do. In my book this is perfect.

Hello there!! This is where I left off before I took on my project. I even had a comment done but the pc took a nose dive. So I'm going by memory and praying CRC doesn't kick in. LOL! Then life just got in the way. I like the addition of the extra cat. And you've made other changes. Back when you first posted this I couldn't put my finger on exactly what it was until I opened the photo (and I think there would be a tug of war between you and I over this baby, what a gorgeous child!). At the time it was the neck too but I see you fixed that. The skintones are what give this a porcelin like feel. The legs seem to be just a tad short or was it the shoes, I don't remember. It's me I know, I notice all these dumb things... but considering that I know more of how the programs work now..(I've had it explained to me in great detail)..I do appreciate the time and effort and look at the renders with new eyes. I have to say though Nancy, doing a child and capturing the feel of a child is a really difficult task. I have a hard time drawing one, I can't imagine how it is on these graphic programs. I love the chubbiness of the cheeks and the bow mouth.Just makes you want to kiss that little face all over. The cats are great too.. I do like the pattern choice on the furniture. That is a hard one to decide on. Thank you Nancy for coming by and commenting on my works......I do genuinely appreciate them. ~Michelle~
