Description

This was taken of my housemates and myself at the Michigan Renaissance Festival last September. I'm the one on the right. All of these costumes we're wearing were designed and created ourselves. What I'm wearing is "Dragon scale armor" that was sculpted in modeling clay, which then was used to make a silicone rubber mold, and the scales were all cast in a resin called Alumilite, then hand-painted before attaching them to a shirt. The feathers are all rooster-tail, and helmet/mask is wax-hardened leather. All told I probably spent 4 months making that costume. Eric and Trish made theirs out of leather (mix of hardened leather and soft leather) and probably spent about 2 or 3 months. Yep, we're nerds. Hope you enjoy this picture, we kinda got stopped for photos alot that weekend ;)

This ROCKS!! I love the costume and well worth the effort you put into it. I've been to the Wisconsin Rennaisance fair about 3 times and have a blast each time I go. There's always some excellent outfits like this to be seen by visitors as well as the actors about the place. Some of the images I took were turned into jigsaw puzzles. If you are interested to see the lute player and puppeteer pics, PM me and I'll give you a link.
