Photography has always been important to me. Since I was a child I would take photographs. At first with a Agfa Box camera (which has been my Avatar for a long time). Later, I borrowed my father's camera and when I was ninetheen years old, my uncle gave me my first SLR camera. Two years later I bought myself a top of the art SLR camera and I took thousands of photoslides and photographs with it till it was stolen from me. In the beginning of 2002 I got my first high performance digital camera (Minolta Dimage 7, upgraded to a 7i) and from that moment I got even more enhousiastic about photography. Now it was possible to take pictures and look at them right away.. In 2005 the Minolta was replaced by a Canon Digital Rebel (Canon EOS 350D). At the and of the year I've even bought a Pentax Optio WP to be able to take pictures under water, in the rain etc.. I 2009 I bought the Canon EOS 450D as well as a Samsung WB5000. All camera's are frequenty used by me. I am a member of RR since October 2004 and I still enjoy being here. I enjoy the photographs of other people very much by looking at those pictures I get ideas of improving my own pictures. So.. thank you !!

I have spring blooming here also, plants that normally wait till March or so to start. It really is scary, but according to our great leaders we have NOTHING to worry about.........so START worrying!!!

Evolution occurs in all things, including weather conditions. I wonder what we would have said during the great melt-down at the conclusion of the Ice Age if we had been around then. I am not saying I do not believe in global warming but all things change. Unless we kill off 2/3rds of the world's population to reduce stress on our resources and environment, I think we have to learn to live with what we have - human nature does not allow for us to revert to "inconveniences" that might slow the progression of the current circumstances. Suggested "cures" are more idealistic than realistic. Beautiful shot of these flowers.

Beautifil flowers well captured but the message bothers me too.

Nice flowers. Do not fear climate change. It is gradual not catastrophic. There are political reasons for all the negative incorrect reports which link weather events to the effect of green house gas release. Apart from the increase in city temperatures eg Tokyo there is actually no significant recorded change over the last 100 years. The present scare is based entirely on prediction and not fact. Weather cycles are well known but very difficult to predict and the actual effects of mankind on temperature is very small. I do agree with work in progress to reduce pollution which is man made and the resulting improvement can be seen relativley quickly.

I really dont know what to believe, but sure this winter is mild. I have flowers in my garden too. Primula, a springtime flower. Anyway... I love your shot of this "violet of the Alps" which we call them in DK. A flower we buy for inside dekoration, but it likes a light, cool room with window to the east. :)) Usually I place it in the garden in a wet place with shadow, when it finnished to blossom. Then it starts making flowers again.

I've got no idea what to believe in these days. I just watched Al Gores "Inconvenient Truth" and it all made perfect sense to me. I'm sure we're polluting and changing the enviroment. I'm also hearing from the other camp, where they say changes are a normal part of our world. That the man made changes are insignificant compared to natural changes.

Interesting and worrying facts. There are roses now in the public garden just across the street. In January ! One friend just came back from Laponia and the temperature this Christmas was -8C. when the normal is -18C. Something is happenning for sure. Great report Oskar.

Fine image and thoughts oddly enough Piet and I were discussing this very thing today

Beautiful flowers... I've only seen them potted for sale, and never growing wild before, that is nice to see. Here, we see things blooming earlier too.
Miss Nancy
actually, those things are "short day" plants and they bloom here (california) at this time of year. but the global warming trend is indisputable. fortunately, the decrease in radiation from the sun will counter it.

Impressive details and colors!
