Description

My first renders were with version .84; now it starts all over. I'm not over-joyed by how this looks, but the preview certainly allows for dabbling with all the new features. Approximate 2-hour render, antialias at 3, detail at 1, GI enabled. I don't know what the rest of you are experiencing. One of my old terrains for practice. 4 Layers, only one cloud layer. A bit of sharpening in post. TGD tech preview. Thanks for viewing and comments.

excellent job -- i reckon it could look better with the antilias turned off or to 1 to give it a more tough looking terrain!!

You have done excellent here with your first production using TG2 Paul. For me, surfacing has been the most difficult (much more practice needed). I think increasing the lightness of GI helps in toning down the sharp contrasts between shadows and sun lighted areas. Also, playing with glow amount and glow power will yield some pleasant surprises with the clouds and atmo. There are more settings in this program than you can shake a stick at. The learning curve here will be steep. Take the baby steps first ...less is better for starters.

I love how far away the horizon looks, and the complexity of the terrain. Got no complaints here;-)

I agree with Bob, less is better in the newer version. This is a prime example. There is a wonderful flow to the surface work, many details show beautifully here. Excellent work on the terrain, sky and surface. You've done a beautiful job.
