San Diego Zoo, December 2006 Here is an interesting info. I learned about them while I was at the zoo. "It is the shellfish and shrimps which flamingos eat which give them their distinctive pink color, otherwise they would be white" Thank you for viewing

I remember thinking how neat that was when I first heard about it, and wondering if there were any that they fed a non-seafood diet to keep them white. Hrmmm... Very expressive flamingo portrait!

Great shot indeed ! As say dBgrafix "we are what we eat" ! But this flamingo have had a particularly great ration of his favorite shrimp "artemia salina" :-)
