Description

my 1st in depth C4D modeling. not perfect. the rivets bump texture on the front tiles and I don't want that. also a nice uneven 'dented' sheeted metal panel texture would be better for the overall train instead of it being perfectly straight and unmetal-like. however I like the composition in general. I'll be replacing the older version of the same train model on my homepage soon @ http://www.masteratwork.com not only that but I'll be adding the train model to the free section one time maybe soon.

Nice work. I like the reflections on the blue tile pillar and the ceiling, and the strip lights and train lights are impressive too. The train does need a little more texture, and perhaps a bit of dirt as well. Is this something dirtyNUTs could help with?

hey that dirtyNUTS sounds great, I'll give it a whirl. thanks. I'd like to know what's the best technique to use for making a sheeted panel metal texture that looks dented (re: bump map) only when the light hits at certain angles. this I need to use for the whole train.

just turn the bump channel on in your textur properties, press edit and pick what "bump" u want ie noise, u can experiment with the different bumps to find the effect u want, turn down the global scale to suit and change high/low clip to affect depth of bump, alternativly draw your own bump map, then select it as an image in the bunp channel! also maybe try adding a little reflection, may work well. fortunatly u have the fun part infront of u, i prefer tweeking textures too building the model. dirtNUTS is an ace plugin, but it probably wont do much, try it but it adds "dirt" to cracks and cravises. your train is pritty flat so it will add dirt evenly, try it, and btw it's looking good :)
