Good combination. I normally don't like to see photos combined with digital characters because this normally makes it more noticeable that characters are digital and not real. But in this case it went very good.

The characters are very nicely rendered, and overall, the composite is excellent. The only detail I'd point out is that your character shadows are as dark or darker than the shadows at the thick bases of your trees. The farther away from its casting object a shadow is, the more scattered ambient light filters in, lightening the shadows up and softening their edges. Also, shadows don't "double darken" -- meaning that if the photo ground is already in shadow, your cast shadows wouldn't make that ground area much darker than it already is, except right at the contact point of the foot. In a composite, shadows of CG objects need to blend with and look just like the shadows of the real objects in color tint, edge softness, and overall darkening. Yours stand out as overly black. The only reason I'm critical at all is because I think your composite is very close to perfect with the nice, dappled lighting, and I want to help. (I rarely comment -- only on images I really like. I'll gladly delete this comment if you like so your image can be as you like it without criticism written under it. Best regards.)
