Description

Still trying to re-capture the mood of my early photomerges, with some small successes. Whether this is one of them or not remains to be seen, because it usually takes me a few days to decide if I like what I've just done. I hope you do. It's good to be playing around in the Mixed Medium gallery again. If you're curious where the title comes from, I think it kind of looks like the person is pausing to admire the sunset in the middle of a long walk, perhaps around the lake to those turbines in the distance. Here are the two other "red giant" images: red giant 8 - red giant revisited Massive thanks to all the contributing stock photographers for their amazing photos. You can see the original, un-altered shots here: Person & pier by OmirOnia Sun & clouds by Cheryl Empey (cempey) Trees, land & sky background by tijmen Turbines by SteveFE And thank you all for stopping by. EDIT: i shouldn't be assuming people's gender identities. i apologize. edited to fix that.

Beautiful image and creative work, Lexa. There is so much to think about here - journey, reflection, environment, and sunset ending the day.

Your avatar always cracks me up. ;'] Powerful work here, the overall mood is quite impressive.

The sustained reds here are powerful, but, for me, your textural "brush" really does it—the way you make a silken river out of the sky, rendering it almost an acrylic painting or something made of molten plastic. I wonder what it would be like to live inside your inner vision for a bit. There are these vast spaces in you, and penetrations into texture and color (like how you handle desert, ground, water, etc.). It would be a nice place to camp out for a while. One gets the sense, too, that you could find infinite possibilities with only a handful of images, that any one manipulation isn't complete but rather another version of some unseen "series" deep inside of you. If you ever open up that series, making your internal-gallery public, let us know: I'd come by that afternoon. And btw, the perspective of the windmills, looming larger than they would in 'real life', is surreal; but like your other manipulations, your surrealism isn't what it's "about" so much as part of the whole. Surrealism, at least when it began, had a feisty assault to it; your images have a real serenity. Can't explain that, but they do. Deep spaces inside you...
