Description
Ultrafractal 4.03 - Apophysis 2 beta 13 (really!)
"Due to the inherently fractal nature of all creation, the arrangement of available galactic hyperspatial connector points is of course somewhat chaotic as well. And in order to get around, one inevitably must travel in a convoluted Ikenaga/Henon-like path to get from say, the hypermandel slipgate nexus in the busy, dog-eat-dog New York giga-urboplex to the softly singing, crystalline waves and a nice cool sierpinski-colada on the voronoi-plaz beaches of Lyapunov IX. Which, unless one is part of the uber-class of not so idle rich like the scions of the heirs of the inventor of the Ultrafractal 4.4208 hyperspace flightpath generator, F. Slijkerman VIII, could neccessitate overnight stays in some fairly hellish and definitely unsexy locations like the Cosmo-tel 6 here on a minor moon of Arrakeen IV.......we'll leave the light on. Hah! What's in YOUR wallet?" ;-)
LOL - I think half the fun of these things is figuring out their names and making up stories to sort of set the tone for them. Still playing with the "3d Spheres" ucl in mtz.ucl. (anyone know who "mtz" is? I'd sure like to give them a BIG thankyou) Edit: Panny just told me it's Mihai (whatta cool name - "me high" lol) Cuziac - THANKS, MAN! This one sets a personal record for layers - 184 - for me and has taken me about a week and a half to complete.
A BIG thankyou to Damien Jones for his awesome "Deluxe Clipping" mapping that made the Platonic Solids tetrahedron "light" much easier to make "transparent" and probably saved me 12 regular scissors/clips and 6 layers and was MUCH easier to use. The weird tree thing is a modification of part of a shape originally found by Bryan Smith(smithgiant), a really visionary and ahead-of-his-time fractallist from a number of years back that I've always revered.
I reckon the "big planet on the horizon" bit is a pretty common - almost cliche'(?) - ploy that is seen in a lot of Terragen/Bryce/Vue space scenes but I've always wanted to give it a whirl using UF.
Thanks for stopping by for a look and encouragement - watch out for micro-meteorites on your way to the ice machine. Uh, sorry, the one in the lobby is on the fritz but the one out by the liquid carbon lake is working just fine. :-)

LOL The story is almost as good as the picture! Nice :)

Very impressive and the story is great fun! I guess that with 184 layers you will be a serious candidate for the Guinness Book of Records!

Such an imaginative image - I love it!! Great use of fractals, and the colours are spot on - this composition must have taken an awful lot of thought, and patience with 184 layers, lol!! An instant fav!! Oh and I also like the story almost as much as the pic!!

mtz is Mihai Cuziac, according to the UF Database page. This is lovely! I do love that tree shape and you did a marvelous job on the 'big planet'. The real stunner in this one is the lamp! Amazing. :)

What a lot of work, and it's paid off again! Love the comets and the tetrahedron light - it's all a gas. Thanks for bringing up Smithgiant - for those who haven't been to his gallery it's a must. And may I say, this is exactly how it looks from Zuton.

And all of this in one atom! I got lost when you talked about 'hypermandel slipgate nexus' but the rest made sense, lol. Always excellent visionary images. PS-they use the planets because they look so cool ;)
