Description

Had a rough time naming this! :) We had a beautiful full moon in August. (This is from the same night as the Serenity Series, and Burgandy Moon) Crown Hill Park is actually a mortuary that lent much of their land to create a park and wildlife preserve. This is their main building, very close to the lake. Quite a bit of post on this, as the moon and lake were in the wrong place lol :) Thanks all!! Kurt

Thanks Suzanne, Stu, Marisol an wonderworld! I try every month to capture the moon. For some reason, this day thru night shoot was an amazing treasure. I was fortunate to get great day shots, and night/sunset/moon shots. I can't wait till spring :) So cold here, bad for the cameras now ..

I see you've chosen to ignore the rule of thirds in this composition by framing your subject dead centre. This is why rules should sometimes be broken. Very successful shot.

Lol B+B!! So true!! Sometimes rules are meant to be broken I guess.. Whats funny, I did not think of any rules when I did this (obviously). This could be a good thing, or a bad thing. The centering seemed right for this, though I really never planned it. Just happened :) All the best and thanks for the comments ! Kurt

I try each month as well, but sure don't have this excellent scene to go with the moon. Reflections and exposure are right on.

Thanks DB! Ya.. the moon captures are tough .. I lucked out on this one night for sure. Too bad full moons only happen once a month :) The next I believe is Feb 2nd. I hope that we have a clear sky then! Kurt

Thanks Danny! Ya.. was pushing the limit on this one! (just the right amount of light lol, any less, would be noisy and grainy )... This was shot with my Minolta. I'm sure with the new Canon would be better, as the imaging system is really great in low light situations. All the best! Kurt

there is a rule where the rule of thirds doesn't apply and that is on reflections, which can be split in half such as this... but that's beside the point and fickle, it's the final impression of your fine artistic expression- for me this mortuary is really a spaceship in disguise! has an ominous look, not all is as it seems- muuuuuhahaha- :)

Ah, the magic of postwork, being able to move moons and lakes.:o) What a lovely result. Really like the color of blue in the sky and reflection and that delicious yellow moon. Such a peaceful and beautifull scene. CC
