Description

A corporate partner company to mine own had requested something patriotic for their newsletter subscribers and e-card users. Since they are a large Christian Internet mall, they wanted the artwork to be patriotic yet with a Christian flare. To create the image, I referenced a photo of myself for the drawing and painting stage. After completing this artwork I found it both well received by my own subscribers as well as those of the other company. In December in 2001 it was one of the better selling prints. The artwork was painted digitally using Painter 6

ok, this is pretty tasteless, isn't it? maybe you should substitute jesus with rambo. it would make more sense.

Despite the USA's fervant wish that it be so, God is NOT an American!!!!!!!! I agree with Mono here (I'm Australian BTW)

I don't belive in "god", and if I did I'm pretty sure he would not want to live here in America. However, I do applaud you for making a wonderfully controversial image. Nothing stirs shit up like attaching a nationality (or preferance) to a religeous figure! WOO! Ya got some guts man! I like to see that!

I consider myself to be one to vote for the underdog, however I am also Catholic and have principles. If someone is to be blamed, it should be your client. They should know better. Your artwork of Jesus himself is well done.

We could go on and on about how most of the most diabolical acts in history were committed in the name of "God," but the point is your client asked for a specific piece of professional art and you delivered in spades. Well done. My personal feelings regarding organized religion aside, this is a well-crafted image that got the job done.

One more chippendale plucky Jesus look like an good Wasp. Don't forget Jesus was born in the Near East, he is an Arab/Jew. Not a Redneck like you.

This is fantastic! Great job and I'm saddened by the comments you received. I bet if you'd put any other flag on him you still would have had critical remarks. Australia or wherever may not recognize Jesus as Lord of their country. America may not recognize Him as Lord of our country anymore - but recognize Him or not, He is LORD of all (which is why I would not be offended by an Australian flag or a flag of any nation being draped on him). If anything it looks like He is imploring the USA to come to Him - which is what Scripture tells us He is doing for everyone. So why the harsh remarks?!?! Frankly I find this picture beautiful and fitting. Far better than I could have done and in good taste. Great job!!!
