Description
Saw a picture up here called "Just Another Chess Pic" or something along the lines. The author mentioned that sooner or later, we all render the game of Chess. I guess it's my turn.
The tools used here was Bryce 5, Rhinoceros, and MS Paint. Most of the 'lil Lego Men were created in Bryce, but their accessories were created in Rhino. Their faces I painted in MS Paint. There's quite a bit of junk on there, so moving the pieces around took some patience and effort, but rendering the picture itself couldn't have taken more than two minutes.

Wow ! That's superb, and different. It could be a good idea for a new lego game :)))

That's really cute. I love the way you modeled the rooks.

Not bad, but once again we see a chess board built by someone that doesn't play chess. Remember, the queen always goes on her own color. This causes both kings to actually face each other, not facing the opposing queen. Additionally, the bishops should be beside the king and queen and the knights should be by the rooks.

I think it looks great; I have this great temptation to put one together out of my son's lego collection. The only negative (other than the previously mentioned piece placement) is that the size of the castles seem to overpower the rest of the board.

KattMan - Dammit. I was once in the chess club, too. It's been ages since I played a game of Chess, and I had forgotten which comes first - the knight or the bishop, so I asked a friend who was certain the knight stood next to the royalty. And the queen, yes, my fault as well, thanks for pointing it out to me, I'll fix it as quickly as possible.

iceblade - the original plan was to have several sky-high lego-towers around, with an infinite lego plain at the bottom, while the chess board balanced on one of the towers...but this picture was such a strain on my computer without any additional detail, it just can't be done ;)

if you have photoshop, make 2 renders, and then composite the 2 images together? Just another idea.................
