Description

Not very long ago the Netherlands were very rich of windmills in all shapes and sizes. The windmill was used for different things like graining corn, get rid of water, to sew wood etc. The Netherlands have a long history with windmills. The first windmills back appeared in the Middle Ages. In the 20th Century many windmills disappeared as they were no longer in use. But nowadays we realize that those buildings make for an important part of Dutch history.. The Netherlands as we know now would not have been existing if there had been no windmill. Almost 1000 windmills still exist and many new ones have been built.. windmills for producing electricity. This time no postwork was used except for the frame.

OH A wonderful Landscape and a lovely mill. I love mills. We have also old mills here in DK. Ok i said that before. lol.. But the new mills for electricity I dont like so much :)))

Well that's how dumb I am... since my first breath I have always pictured windmills when someone mentions the Netherlands or dutch this or that. It never occured to me that in modern times, they weren't as plentiful and still remain the icon. Great shot.
