Description

The enemy base was hard to spot. The surroundings had been comprehensively terraformed, to mask the presence of military buildings. An active sensor-disruption system ensured that prying sensors would record only misinformation. Saxonian analysts were convinced that the New Varangians had one base, probably several, within Saxonian space and that it was from these, rather than from the distant Varangian homeworld, that the recent damaging raids had been launched. When Saxonian R&D finally perfected an in-system scanning technology that was immune to active disruption, the Varangian bases were quickly identified. The capital ships and hybridfighters have softened up the defenders quite nicely. Now the infantry can land, to tie up the loose ends.
