Description

A little backstory- I did these two drawings in a bit of a rush to get them done for Christmas. One went to my step father and the other went to my step uncle. The two of them have a fued going based on these two football teams and make it known everytime one of them plays. The entire neighborhood is subjected to thier screaming everytime one of the teams plays and if it is possible they seem to be even louder when the two teams are playing each other. I dont really understand the whole football fan thing but I thought I would play into thier rivalry with these two christmas presents. Anyway, I had planned on putting the two pieces together once I finished them and this is what I came up with. Please feel free to comment on any part of the whole piece but, what I am most interested in is some constructive criticism on how they look together. So, Is the background good? How about the title and its font? Should I maybe add a gradiant to the background, or change its color? Anything else you can see that would make them look better together? Oh ya, and both pieces are white charcoal and pastel on 18x24 black tagboard... Thank you for any and all comments!

First of all, I love the idea, and your fantastic character drawings. I understand the rivalry and it is a funny story. The rest of my comments are my personal observations & perceptions from an untrained eye. IMO I think the typography might be more in keeping with the idea if it were a sans serif font with the letters spaced widely apart. I would make its monotone subtle white, not too bright as to grab attention from the images themselves. The title is really a commentary on the images. There is a part on the lower right of the image, with the white background, that looks unfinished, maybe a little of the shirt should be added behind the trophy. I like the contrast of the individual image backgrounds. There is a "rivalry" for my eyes attention between the two, light and dark. The general black background works well I think, as does the title. The old saying "Less is more" is often right.
