Description

To see the action, see full size :) I was fortunate in the 2005 Grand Prix of Denver to be hired by several sponsors. What was expected to be a 3 day shoot, turned into 5 days. This night, I was working for Patron, and was one of 3 primary photographers on a world "Feather Weight" boxing match presented by ESPN. This is a collection of two fights. (I'm not really a boxing fan, however, photographing such extreme action is a thrill, and a bit scary!) Tomorrow , In the Ring 2.. Then , on to something completely Different :) All the best! (And I know this is not a tree thang , a moon thang , nor a building thang lol) Kurt

Fantastic reportage, you did well with the very bright yeallow backlighting and although not familiar with the highlights the one on the left looks a significant capture of something important.

Thanks all! There is quite a bit of info regarding light, speed, iso, and how I got to do this in the first place in the next series. And yes, this is not Rocky lol .. this was real , and a world wide event on National and International broadcasts. Cheers! Kurt

But technically Kurt, are the ropes not walls? ROFLMAO Interesting captures, I think you nailed the action good. I'm not 100% sure, but I may of seen the guy in the camo shorts, on Sugar Rays Contender series. Nice work Kurt, and it's good to see you got more work!

Superb action shots, Kurt. Clarity and lighting are spot on. I am not at all a fan of boxing, find it a babaric sport. I can however admire your talent in these wonderful captures. Hugs. Diane.

I really appreciate all of the wonderful comments! And I too, very much dislike this sport, and all violence. I never watched boxing except for news clips, had never been to a boxing match before let alone be a primary photographer on ringside! What a challenge this was, but a great experience. I'm not sure I'd shoot boxing again, but most certainly would love to do other action/sporting events such as more car racing, snow boarding or skiing. :) Kurt

you got to look at boxing as a dance. and some dances i saw in close by i think boxing is not as violence. I do not watch boxing but I going to shoot[photo] a boy I been knowing when he was 10 years old. That the only reason I going to shot boxing. What type of camera you had ? Is it film camera?
