Hi, welcome to my renderosity homepage. For me, rendering is a hobby and as such my renders may not be of the caliber of some of the other wonderful (real) artists on this site. That said, I try my best and try to learn more whenever possible.
A look at my gallery will reveal a good deal of sci-fi pin up posts (to put it politely). There is of course much more to me than that sort of thing, lets just say that poser has had a tendency to lead me in that direction when expressing myself through rendering. Yes, that's the story i'm sticking to! When I started out here I rarely did postwork and knew nothing of rendering. Since then i've picked up some tricks for poser and photoshop. You can see the progress in each gallery post, which is why I like to keep all my gallery posts, good bad or ugly, as a record of just how much i've learned. Why did I get into rendering? well one day I stumbled on to Wyrmmasters homepage. From there I found renderosity, got poser, etc.. All in all however, all that I want is that people who wish it may view, comment on, and most of all enjoy the fruits of my labour when it comes to rendering. For allowing a fourm in which I can satisfy the drop of artisitc creativity in me, I am most grateful to the Renderosity staff and community.

Very nice! I might have made the girl look at the camera. As is she looks a little blank faced, b/c she's looking at nothing. I really like the use of the emblem on the ground, it gives it a unique twist. :)

Fantastic! I didn't know stormtroopers were that hot!
arcebus
Well, ok - she might not be looking at the camera - but she is looking GOOD!

Kool GOE pin-up, yes the lighting is great ! but IMO for DOF to make a bigger impression, you need larger 3D structures in the foreground and background to see the effect better, just a suggestion, this is still a fine render ! ~Cheers~

Dear Pete, I think everything turned out very well!!! And I think it's an interesting experiment with Depth of Field (DOF to spare my manicure!!!) I think it would be interesting to compare them with and without DOF in this case. DOF is a tricky thing that is a product of the invention of the camera. If you look at the old paintings, you will rarely see it, because WE don't see it. Our eye lens are subject to the same limitations as a camera lens, but because we continuously move our mental focus (and adjust our lens,) so quickly as soon as we become aware of things in the distance we automatically compensate for the DOF limitations of our eyes. DOF is tricky with a camera, too. Mostly, we try to take pictures and use lens that minimize it because we want the entire photo to be sharp. We can't control where people look, so whether they look at something close or something far, we want all of it to be in focus. And yet, at times we also deliberately use the DOF of a camera for specialized effects. Macro lens used for close up work with flowers, butterflies, etc., are a good example, where we want the subject to be very sharp, but the background completely blurred out. The key point to remember when doing Poser things is decide what type of "picture" you are trying to create. In this case, if we are standing there looking at this gal, then we want to minimize DOF because out eyes aren't going to see it. If we want to show a photograph taken from the same place with a short lens, then yes DOF might be apparent. In this case, I think with the hard geometric lines of the floor, you might prefer the "eye view" to the "camera view!!" I think doing an additional render or two with varying DOF would be an interesting experiment. I may play with a series of renders myself to investigate Poser's capabilities!!!!! Very nice picture and a great addition to your series!! And also, a very thought provoking one that sets us all to learning!!! Love ya!!! Meredith
