In Victorian times, the women used to make "scrap quilts" out of all the wonderful left over scraps from their dresses and such. They would use velvets and silks and brocades and satins of such luscious colors and textures. They sewed them together and over stitched the seams with the most exquisite embroidery stitches. That is what this reminds me of. Such richness and wonderful "stitches", this is really beautiful!
