My life fell into a routine after that encounter with the Archmage were I discovered that I did have magic in me. Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months as I spent my time learning as much as I could to be prepared for the challenges and tests that the Archmage said I would have to undergo. After waking and breaking my fast in the kitchen, I headed to my appointment with Tompkins. Mornings in the library were spent reading the books on magic that the Archmage had left for me. Most were just long sermons of warnings about how magic could be misused and could turn people evil. Some talked about the history of magic and magical objects. Others talked about how magic and magical objects had been hidden after the fall of Crom-Ya and the break up of the unity of the Cimmarian people. I had to struggle to understand some books; others seemed deceptively simple, but I learned to read passages several times to find the hidden meaning. Tompkins pulled me away from reading as he continued to instruct me on other topic. He continued mathematic lessons and handwriting, but also introduced me to other languages, science and geography.
