Description

This is a little test image to explore Renderosity's new thumbnail policies whereupon A) A thumbnail must accurately represent the entire image. and B) Thumbnails may not contain "censored" (or sexual) language (including the word censored!). So, when the entire image IS the word "Censored", what happens? BTW, don't miss my farewell to T&A in thumbs image. (To answer the first comment, no, not banned...yet?)

Well, I posted an image today and it was "temporarily suspended" until I provided a new thumb. The thumb that appeared is in the image. Have a look in the Humor section. It's not hard to miss It's called "Don't Believe What's In A Thumbnail" Maybe I'll make it my avatar...Hmmm...

Let's see the result. I will come tomorrow to see if this thumb (and the corresponding image) is living amongst us or has been deceased. I hope the fist thing!

How interesting that they state it's because members expressed a desire to have the policy changed. Are we not members. If the squeeky wheel gets the grease, more of us need to start squeeking. Not that we matter, us booby slingers aren't real people anyways right.

I'm not leaving and if they ban me, i will still come under a different name, no matter how many times they ban me. if people give up, they will spread this even farther. I WILL use the thumbnail I posted in the forum And will CONTINUE to use it. If they want to have a pissing match with me, Let them. But I agree 100% on this. I DON'T want to see good artists leave because of thier stupidity in rules.

Okay - Reality check: everybody look at your gallery options. (Click on "My Home Page" and then on "My Gallery Options," just above your featured image.) When you opened your account here you had to ON PURPOSE uncheck the boxes near the bottom of the form that give you the option to filter for nudity or violence. Unless you've made that choice, you don't see any thumbnails that have been flagged for either, whether the thumbnail contains nudity or not! The default is set so that you don't see any general naughtiness unless you want to. As I recall, what you see instead of a thumbnail is a warning notice that the image contains nudity and/or violence. If I didn't want to see these things, all I would have to do would be to go to my gallery options and check the little boxes, and the problem would go away. Poof! Perhaps I'm missing something - I haven't been around here all that long - but WTF is up with this new rule? Auntietk's major pet peeve: being asked to babysit adults who are unwilling to be responsible for their own choices.

Apparently that's not good enough. They apparently aren't satisfied just with deciding what they won't see, they don't want anyone else to be able to see it either. (And yes, there are backwards people out there who believe that anything depicting the uncovered human form is pornography and should be banned outright and would have anyone who produces, distributes or even views such content that offends them thrown into prison). This isn't even the first time the art-nazis at Renderosity administration decided to get all self-righteous and make complete asses of themselves. The child image guidelines alone would ban at least a few pieces that are considered to be great works of art. And you get these two nuggets: - "Since age is difficult to identify with 3D images, this will be at the discretion of the Renderosity team.", and - "Gender that is questionable on an image with an exposed chest will be removed from the gallery at the discretion of the Renderosity team." Great. So in addition to automatically equating child nudity with child pornography, they also decide for themselves what is and isn't a depiction of a child (or female child respectively). What's next - banning nudity from the galleries as well? I can see it now - some artist gets hauled away by jack-booted thugs for an image of a nude woman that someone else decided was only 17 just to create a crime to charge the artist with.

What a fantastic statement! I agree with Auntietk...there are the check boxes, just like over at Rotica, if you don' like nooditty then check the box...if you don't want violence, check the box, if you don't want B&D, check the....er never mind, wrong sight! (LOL!)

History shows that suppression will often create in the populace the desire to protect, promote and proliferate the very thing denied them. This is the basis upon which those in law enforcement and the justice system ensure their continued job security. This principle (from Frank Herbert) could easily apply to other situations, like bureaucrats, social workers, anyone in a position of authroity really who need to justify to their benefactors their continued employment. This of course is not to say that the above stated principle applies to the issue that is the concern of this image, for human nature and the decisions that flow from it are usually much more multifaceted. I can't decide if next I'll post a nude Star Trek image or another Busty Elves image...

Why is everybody getting so upset about the TOS? If you disagree with them, leave this website!!!

I'm all for self expression, but REALLY, with all the really important things to bitch about, must we prioritize thumbnails. With all the folks who say they're leaving, somehow the world remains unshaken. Aren't we becoming a little self-important?

Come on: all this over Thumbnail Displays? If so, I wonder what's next..... I would honestly hate to see any of the great artists here at Renderosity, leave because of this new TOS Thumbnail Policy. There simply has to be a way for all interested parties involved, to work this conflict out, without anger, without threats, and without banning anyone. Am I naive or too optimistic? Maybe. In this case however, it's probably better to have a positive outlook, or else why are any of us even here?

Hmmmm, The ultimate sensor is the off button. There are kids going to bed hungry, people imprisoned for disagreeing with other people.

I like this picture because it's provocative, but also because it has a good message, and that is that renderosity isn't about art anymore, it's about art filtered through morals, and at that moment.. it ceases to be TRUE art. There actually is an easy way out, make artists check a "this is a nude thumb" and make the option to filter out nude thumbs only. Everybody's happy, nobody's offended. If more options are required, make more checkboxes and filter more options, easy. As for me, I'm interested in moving on from renderosity, so any tips about other sites is greatly appreciated.

Well, I guess I best add my two cents. It almost seams as if rendoerosity's moderators are wanting just kids to come here. They should make an adult section and a non adult section for kids. It'd make things much easier. That way we can still post our images we love to see with out the extreme nudity. After all that is what Renderotica is for after all. But I really don't want to have to go there to post my work. Love the work by the way.

How does one bitch-slap a virtual community? I swear some folks are whipping themselves into a masturbatory frenzy over this. Some of the ocmments I've run across sound either psychotically self-righteous or self-righteously psychotic. Look, the thumbnail is a TEASE. Think of it this way-- You're making a poster of the lovely Miss Roxie to go on the outside of the Burle-Que Theatre. Do you show Miss Roxie in all her glory with her costume dropped to the stage floor? No. You show her smile and a hint of skin, just enough to let the audience know that if they take the time to come inside, they're going to See Something Good. Rendo did cause some of the problem themselves by altering the display software. Dumb move (very dumb move!) making the software automatically shrink an image into a thumbnail if no thumbnail was uploaded.
