Description
"If I should forget thee, O Jerusalem! let my right hand* forget its cunning! Let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth, if I remember thee not, if I not set Jerusalem above my chiefest joy!" Psalm 137: 5-6
dphoadley is reading Psalms at the Western Wall of the Temple Mount with his grandson Matan-David.
Figures from left to right: P3 Business Man, Dolly by Gerald Day, P4 Nude Man (Dork) textured with Arduino's Claudio Texture, and dressed with the P4 Tuxedo, P4 Nude Man (Dork) Morphed and Textured to look like dphoadley, P5 Casual Boy.
Rendered with no problem in Poser 5 (since all the figures are, by today's standards, essentially Lo-Res), and PostWorked in Photoshop.
Credits:
Momodot for supplying mye with MorphMan for the P4 Male (Dork).
Pitklad for giving us Domus, a revamped version of the P4 Male (Dork). Without these two and their morphs, I'd never have been able to morph Dork's face tolook like mine.
Xurge at RDNA for making me the Greek Fisherman's Cap.
Trekkigirrrl for the Open Book freebie.
Gerald Day for the Dolly figure. I was going to use the P5 girl, but she doesn't come with any frocks, just jeans and T-shirts, shorts and bathing suits. Not suitable dress for a Holy Site like the western Wall.
If some should think that this image is incongruent with the style of some of my other images, then understand this -I am a deeply spiritual man, but I am not a prude. When prudery enters the picture, then true righteousness tends to be obliterated.

Excellent image! When I was in Fifth Grade we read "Man's Search for Meaning" by Frankel, I believe. That changed my life forever.

A wonderfully balanced scene! I appreciate the spirit of this work.

Great subject with the scene well set. The hands on the Wall don't work for me, they look too manakin-like. P.S. I admire your avatar, it rocks.

Hey, a great work :)

I applaud your use of older Poser figures. Overall I like the image. Although, the arm poses on the 2 men on the left seem some how off and very stiff?
geep
Well done, my friend, well done. The camera angle, the lighting, the textures. re: the "stiff" arm poses of the men on the left - I believe may be caused by the straightness of both the hands and the fingers. Overall, I'd give this an A+. cheers and Shalom, dr geep ;=]

Great job on a complex and very meaningful scene. "Let my right had*" hand You'll not make a good sofer ;) Excellent picture.

You've obviously taken much trouble with the detail so no crits, though its sad to understand you've constrained the freedom of keyboard and those truant fingers (Not figgers? Well that figgers. Do like the figures, and a rocky surface with few fissures. Should I go on? Should I have started!). Anyway, a nicely conceived scene for the dawn of Rendo's new "prudish" era. My current inclination is to cope by abstinence. We'll see!

The "Wailing wall." I got fortunate enough to see it in 1979. Thanks for posting this. Shalom, may God Bless. -Rob

A very inspiring work! I would have taken the easy way out and used Mil3 characters, but you pulled of a work of inspiration using the older characters.I was drawn to even at the solemnity of the moment, the children have their own agenda, (As the father of four) I know how that happens quite often. A very nice piece overall.

i think it's interesting to see how little the figures matter when they're fully clothed. the p3 business man's suit looks about on par with the m3 suit, right down to the texture. it's a very well composed scene, with the diagonal leading us from the business man to the boy, and then very interestingly a new diagonal leading to the plant. well, that is for those of us used to reading left to right, that's the general motion. i like the sort of rhythm the figures make together. and the pose of the last two figures is phenomenal. the two main critical points i'd make are regarding scaling and lighting. the little girl looks shrunken (which i'm guessing is what you did), because her head is a bit too small. just a tiny bit bigger, and she'd look a lot more like a child. somehow, the p4 man's hands look too small as well. if that's domus, i'd suggest making his hands a tad larger. and while the light is good enough blend poser and photo (which is more than most can do- so it's very good), it still seems very flat on the figures. i'd suggest either using something like the global lighting setups in freestuff or doing some correction layers in photoshop. really great, heartfelt work. very meaningful.
