Description

A very showy foliage & flower plant: Sow thistle (Sonchus palmensis) is the common name for a number of related annual herbs in the Genus Sonchus, the ancient Greek name for these plants. Looking a lot like a dandelion that is on steroids or has gone through a nuclear disaster, the heavily-lobed leaves are graceful & fern-like with a whitish mid-rib. Sow thistles are common roadside plants, and while native to Eurasia and tropical Africa, they are found almost worldwide in temperate regions. Despite their common name, sow thistles are not true thistles, although are classified in the same family, the Asteraceae. A very pleasant display of the humble yellow flower. Yellow is supposed to stimulate joy and peace. Very well captured!

J'adore !!!

So pretty, I like so much your dandelion on steroids!!!! A superbe colourful capture, dear Michel. It reminds me a little of our ragwort, but that is a bad flower. It poisons the animals :-(( Hugs and Kisses. Di Di.

Close to my favorite flower - the Aster Ericoides! Distant cousins I think! Do they have a heavy sweet scent? In any case - they look lovely - especially with the play of light!

Jolie photo :)
