Description

Well, this is up a bit later than I'd planned, but since there won't be a second one with a trophy I guess it doesn't matter. This is our first Father/Son Pinewood Derby car, and given that Christopher's only 6 there was more Father than Son this time. He did quite a bit of the sanding, painting and decorating, but I handled the saw and router. If you look close you can see a few of my oopsies too. lol He had fun until he learned that he'd not advanced out of his den to the Tiger Cub finals. I'm not sure he realized that he lost all three races he was in...that's probably a good thing as he was broken up enough about it already. Hopefully we'll have better luck next year. John

Nice picture. I wished that I knew about Renderosity when my sons were racing their cars. Everyone would've gotten tired of seeing them. Our pack is getting ready to race their cars this weekend. We don't get to race them anymore but we still help out with the race. My oldest son is an Eagle Scout and my youngest is fixing to be a Star Scout. I hope that you and your family continue to have lots of fun in Scouting.

Dear John, I'm back at work and just called in some technical advice that was roaming down the hall trying to cause trouble!!! THE Boss, Tomas, and Karl all say "Graphite, Graphite, Graphite!!" I assume they are talking about the lubricant. I never did the pine wood derby bit so I can't offer any help. It's a really cool looking car and we'll avoid looking to closely and avoid any "oops." I'm sorry he didn't do better - but next near will be along pretty quickly - and you'll have another shot at it!!! Super fun photo and I know that both of you had a wonderful time!!!!! Love ya!!! Oopsies? You could have fooled me! A very artistic attempt and it seems like a collaborative effort like none. Well illustrated.

I had no idea father-son stuff like this was going on, up here the parents just send their kids out into the street to play street hockey. Seriously though great stuff, I'm sure they'll be many more races for you two in the future.

A great looking car...and it is great because Father and Son did it together...not one of those jobs where you know DAD did all the work!! Racing advice from someone whose been in Cubs and whose helped nephews...sand the nails...there's a burr on the nail which slows down the car... make it smooth. Get the car as close to the weight limit as possible. Heavier is best! Graphite...Graphite...Graphite. And remember...it's never a losing car if you did it together. And Ice Cream solves all other problems!
