Description

I had grown a little bored of capturing single water drops and thought that if one water drop has provided me with so much joy, what would two simultaneous water drops do? Nirvana? So the challenge was to create an environment that would entice an unsuspecting drop to stop by, then I could surprise it and split it in two. So as you see in the picture, the water drop is approaching a perch unaware of the peril that awaits it. Doesn't it look happy and unsuspecting? Upon landing on the wire, 87 gigawatts of electricity is applied to the drop. The jolt immediately renders the drop unconscious, causing it to droop around the wire. With no control over its cohesion it quickly splits and falls to the water below. Pretty neat, huh? An unforeseen side effect is that most of the energy is stored then released once the drops contact the pool of water. The resultant images show the molten effect of releasing that energy. Well, maybe not Nirvana but I had fun and as always amazed by what I see in the the macro world. And once the radiation subsides I will be trying my luck at 3 drops. The water is colored with neon pink food coloring. It is a mystery why it shows up red but I am glad it does. Only post processing was to remove some of the noise and add the fairy dust. Thanks to all the other waterdroppers for sharing your captures. To see a larger format of the pictures, please visit. http://picasaweb.google.com/magadg3000

I can't wait to see what happens to three... then you'll have to go to four, then five... Where will it end?
