Description

THIS PICTURE SHOULD BE VIEWED IN ZOOM OR YOU LOSE A GREAT DEAL OF DETAIL. Odan III is definitely a hardship tour. The outpost is a grim, depressing place located in the "Wayback" of a distant arm our our galaxy. The planet circles a nondescript star and has a thick atmosphere that is poisonous to humans. In fact, everything on the planet tries to kill us or at best is unwelcoming. The life that exists is sparse and deadly. The plant life is really as much animal as it is vegetable, but there are a variety of stinging, biting, and poisonous critters who will be happy to take your life, if you give them the opportunity. They are difficult to see in the murk, but there are a trio of Spideys lurking around the buildings. In less a second, their long tongues can pick off prey three meters away and pull it into their stomach. Of course the tentacled Squid Trees will be happy to consume any spidey or anyone else that comes within their reach. The Thorn Trees allow the unwary to pass within the shelter of its tangled branches unharmed, but when the victim tries to leave the thorns rip and tear, injecting a venom that starts digesting the hapless creature. No, Odan III is not a nice place! ************************************ Credits: Bryce 6.0, PhotoShopPro 5.0. Outpost buildings and aircraft: "Planetary Outpost packs-1 & 2" by rj001 (Renderosity). Most Excellent! Really like the way the fog gives just the right amount of atmospheric perspective to set the mood! Terrific description as well... SMM

This is a really neat picture. After reading the description it reminds me of the planet described in Frank Herbert's book The Jesus Incident.

One of your better. :-))). Delighted to see someone who grasps the concept of multiple moons, gravity and astronomical distances. (I cringe when I see someone pack the sky with moons, at arms reach). Love the flora and fauna as well.
