Description

These images were taken last May on an Alaskan cruise I took with my Grandma. These are some of local crafts available in Sitka. I was told that these items were made by local artists. Unfortunately these lovely items are as expensive as they are beautiful, yikes! Finally in desperation to have some of this beauty for myself I asked the store owner if she would mind if I took a few pictures. She agreed and so here they are. I don't remember the name of the shop but there are not that many of them in Sitka (it's a small place). So if you see something you really like I recommend visiting Sitka. You are bound to find this little yellow house store with the statues, and the little glass shop next to it. They are just across form the pier and visitor center. :-) - Here are some of my other recent works (I sometimes post at odd hours, so you may have missed them the first time around): thumb_1374231.jpg thumb_1373607.jpg thumb_1372929.jpg thumb_1372272.jpg thumb_1371667.jpg thumb_1370950.jpg

The top image resembles selective colouring of a photo! Great objects of art on display and well captured.

Gorgeous wares here and a great capture by you of them all. Is it just me, or does the fellow in the top photo sort of resemble Elvis? :-)

I think it's so fun to wander into crafts and gifts places everywhere I go. I get to see so many fabulous things that people create! That's the magic of visting other places for me.

I have to say my favorite would have to be the Eskimo Family. Thank you for sharing the wonderful art work.
