Dear Richard, Part of your route is revealed - you were on US 287!!! The both are lovely!! A lot of care has been taking in restoring and keeping them so pristine looking. There are still a lot of the old courhouses around, but often even though they are structurally sound, the look shabby!!! Back at home, one of the retired preachers with an interest in photograph set out to take pictures of all 254 in Texas (or slightly less maybe because I think a couple of counties out west share a common courthouse.) Anyway, this was while I was in college. I'd forgotten about his project until now. I'll have to inquire how it all turned out!!! Really nice work and I love seeing pictures from your trip!!!!! Love ya!!! Meredith Meredith Elaine Wilson - MeredithLand

There were two courthouses in the town I grew up in known as the old courthouse and the new courthouse. I've been in the new one once to watch a trial as a school field trip. It was about a mailman in a jeep and a salesman in ...well, his insurance company lawyer was representing him. Later I delivered newspapers to the circuit judge. His wife and daughters were afraid to open the door when I came to collect each Saturday. We ordinary citizens live in a dangerous place with desperate men. In those places everyone has to sit down and and be quiet. My last visit to a courthuse was to a murder trial in Troy. I sat on the prosecution side. No need to be unfriendly.

I was thinking about capturing some of these myself... Texas has such grand courthouses, and it's great to see them being restored. Sadly some have been lost and replaced with newer more modern buildings that don't begin to replace this kind of beauty. Great shots, Richard, thanks for sharing them with us!

The Clarendon one has almost a Disney Castle feel to it, it's a pity it's a courthouse and not a Toy shop ! super captures Richard ~Cheers~ :o)

Interesting shots! The color coordination of the architect must have been somewhat off, huh? The red of the roof does not really go well with the bricks! Good images anyway!

There are two very important things I do in the morning- I open up your latest creation and have a cup of coffee, it sets my day in a positive direction. Thanks!! Keep them coming!!!
