Description

(warning long sappy story with this one) A couple of weeks ago I found this giant swallowtail in my yard, he was fluttering around in the grass and couldn't fly. I guess he emerged from his cocoon with deformed wings. :-( I put him in my terrarium, looked up his preferred flowers and clipped a few to put in with him. I also sprayed water inside. I hoped his wings would unfurl but they never did..he lived for a few days which was better than being left at the mercy of the fire ants and lizards. I am a sucker for helpless critters. You have extended its life through capturing it and the clarity is exceptional. great POV too. We could do with a helping hand over here sometimes, are you for hire? lol

You gave it your best shot (no pun intended). And to die from fire ants, well, sometimes Mother Nature seems to be so unnecessarily cruel. sigh You did a good thing!
