Even though I use the Photoshop monitor calibration tool, many people remark that some of my renderings are too dark. I tried to lighten this one up a bit without taking away from the "mood", so I hope I got it light enough for you to see the detail. :) Oh, and I'm on my laptop this time, so that might make a difference, too. Let me know if its too dark, okay?

To be honest, yes for me it's too dark. Athough the brightness of my monitor is not constant and so it's difficult to speak in absolute terms. But I do compare your image with others, which are available. Besides, it's a great design.

It is dark, but I love the image. I found that the laptops can be really dark when working if you aren't using the battery pack. When I travel, mine are really dark sometimes and I have to lighten them when I get them home. Boost the gamma up to around 4 or 5 and see if that helps some. This is a gorgeous image today though. Lovely shapes here. I like it the way it is, but I think I'd prefer it lighter.
