Description

I was thinking about what the most obvious signature of a heavy machine gun was yesterday after reading about some Apache losses. First I thought of flash. It has a muzzle flame. Then I thought of the sound. The rat-a-tat-tat that echoes over the battlefield is in every war movie, even ones about spies. But then I realized the most powerful signature is "bullets." This signature has been captured by banners strung across ballistic ranges and conductive foils to measure muzzle velocity and bullet ballistic coefficient. It has even been used in survivability studies to characterize terminal energy and damage. So why not a smart skin to develop the trajectory of lethal rounds and point at the shooters? It has the grisley character of post mortem and posthumous response. So it's sensitive. I got my F-86 out of storage in Britian where it had been hiding from Flight Sytems Incorporated who wanted to turn it into an instrumented target. And I flew it and parked it in Shreveport. The P-63 "pinball" could not come as he was tied up with "Cobra" matters and it was beginning to look like a Boeing meeting. UTC begged off as a sponsor as they could see GE in everyone who showed up. The meeting came down to guns. IED's and mortars and mines happen at remote locations. This was strictly a guns issue so that big ole Warthog pushed his way in once he saw how big the Apache really was. Alpha man went into a "thank you lord for rain" posture. No POW issues came up as the surviviors had been executed. Now there was only the issue of assisting the Al Aqsa Martyrs brigade to find heaven issue to overcome. Excuse me! No violence is allowed at the meeting. We want to avoid checking that checkbox. That is behind us. Phshew! This innovation is of no value to folks standing in lines waiting to be identified. It applies only to those in the field. My Phantom-II and Sabrejet and gun and landing gear on the A-10 from the Carrara CD. My ejection seats (not visible here) in the Apache from the Carrara CD. Textures done in the Material Room. 3DS mode of import/export.

well, they have made ballistic radar to track mortar round as far back as the Vietnam War...it could happen..;) Reminds me of an F100 I used to see parked not too far from I40 near Burlington, NC; used to have no engine, but you could dream..;) keep 'em flyin'

Dear Dale, I'm sorry I've fallen behind again! I really do try to keep up!! That's really a neat collection of aircraft you've built!!! I suppose as you say that it would be a GE convention. It took me a moment to figure out the red, white, and blue figure. I thought it was three at first glance! Those are some serious muscles!!! I've been to both Troy and Bossier city, but never flown between them. Really cool look at some classic aircraft!!! Love ya!!! Meredith Meredith Elaine Wilson - MeredithLand
