Description

Number four of four. Thanks, everybody, for your interest and your comments on this series! I didn't expect to get such a good response on my dining room chairs, and am happy to have received such positive feedback. This is another Bucilla kit, modified to fit the chair. (See my notes on "Needlepoint - Hydrangea" for all the information.) The original color for the background on this kit was a solid light blue - sort of a country/cornflower color. One of the considerations when expanding a pattern, though, is the amount of available yarn. There wasn't enough of that blue to cover the area I needed to cover. Fortunately I had a whole hank of a darker royal blue left over from another project, and was able to combine what came with the kit with what I already had on hand. (You can't just run out and buy the stuff - it's special yarn.) When working needlepoint, you use two strands of wool at a time. So instead of using two strands of one color, I used one strand of light blue and one strand of royal blue to complete the background. I liked the way it turned out - sort of a denim look. You can be proud of these needleworks! and chairs too! - Two different blues together bring lots of light, depth too, to the background of this one. Really nice!!
