More Sandhill Crane Information: The Sandhill cranes travel as much as 350 miles per day while migrating. They fly at anywhere from 14 to 51 miles per hour in a V formation--often as high as 12,000 feet. several years ago one was walking around in Highland park not bothering anyone.some old lady called the animal control complaining and he had to come and scare it until it left. I had no camera with me at the time and I still kick myself for not being prepared.awesome closeup

Bravo! Funny that you post this today. Was out for 2 hrs. today and the first animals I saw were two Sandhill cranes. Got pretty close - but not anywhere as close as that! Superb detail!

That's a great composition, I really love this portrait. In the larger size, it's fantastic to see all the details of his feathers, the most impressive is the part where ther is the red color. A great shot !
