Description

This is one of the first shots I took with my (then) new 300mm lens, which I used at full extension. It was taken on Trigg beach in Perth, Western Australia. The blur was added in Photoshop to create a little extra movement. Oh, and sorry for the cheesy title.

Nice shot and focus, the water seems to wet everyone that spectate this one! Is it zoomed?

The zoom blur (if that's what you mean) was done in photoshop, not with the lens.

The zoom blur was excellently applied to focus attention on the surfer.

The zoomed blur gives it a great sense of movement, whilst keeping the surfer in sharp focus. Great idea and a cool capture!!

Awesome actionshot!!! Perfecly composed with the surfer not in the center. And your postwork, adding that zoom-blur was just a stroke of genious! #:o) Have a great weekend. #:o)

I think this is a great shot, but I do have one teeny tiny criticism. While I appreciate the direction you took with your post-work, I think to anyone that is a seasoned Photoshop user this will look too deliberate. I know its a punchy shot, but the obviousness and somewhat abrasiveness of the zoom does, for me at least, detract from what was an incredible photograph. I think if the effect were toned down slightly it would have worked infinitely better.
