Description

Here's another night scene. Canon EOS 30D EF 17-40mm f.4 L 20 sec. f.5 ISO 250 Color temp. 7000 Thank you all for your kind comments on my previous uploaded photographs. Update: Mayda, I shot about 20 similar photographs on this site with different settings and slightly different compositions. The boat was moving in almost them all. By the time I took this one (about one hour before "Dark"), the wind had stoped (you can see it on the clouds) and the tide reached it's peak, I believe. Besides, the boat was tied up by both sides as you can see. Night photography is very challeging, requires very special weather conditions and it takes patience and some luck. That was the case, I guess. Thank you all.

I was switching back and forth between your two shots of this boat. Couldn't decide which I liked better. finally decided I love them both realized what it was I liked best about them. In this one as much as the colors...its the reflection. How it is naturally smudged! That for me is the outstanding feature, what really makes this work. It seems to be where my eye is drawn, I never noticed the ties on the boat until I read your comment. I guess that would be further proof of where the eye is immediatel drawn, the colors seem to catch the peripheral vision. Much like a compliment rather than the focus. Extrodinary...your work just knocks my socks off.. ~Michelle~
