Description

When I was a boy my mother would send me out to play. She never specifically sent me out to play in the woods or the swamp. That was just the most interesting place to play with frogs and trees and rafts. In the winter there was ice and "soakers." I found my first job after college by wandering around Los Angeles guided by the "College Placement Annual." It told me where the laboratories were. Eventually I decided to work where there was some "production." At the factory there were always sheet metal parts on dollies parked in the aisles between buildings. There were more when production was high and less when it was low. These parts as shown are not quite typical as there would be more frames and reinforcements in the parts and the window holes would already be cutout. Satellite plants brought the parts up to that level. Now you see what you thought were baggage carts are actully production dollies. Sydney and Simon can inventory what I remember about such things. This was before I worked with CADE and the IBM 2250 though I did work with an IBM 1410 card sorter in this era. The IBM 360 was unsuitable for the work I did as programmed by the local department. The lease and the software were still intimately tied. Did JCL really stand for "Johhny Come Lately?" IMS was being overlaid on OS and ASP was being tested. I had to explain this to the Navy in a proposal to update logistics along with this airplane. Nancy Pelosi cannot fly these even though they have 2000 n mi. of range as some are part of a general SAM fleet now and the VP took them over in the Clinton years. Henry Kissinger's KC-135 VIP with no windows just got too old. One VC-137 is in the Reagen library overlooking the Pacific and one is at the USAF museum in Dayton.

Dear Dale, I too have seen the various assemblies stacked about like this. And loved looking them over. I'm always fascinated how all the parts slowly build up until eventually, a whole aircraft stands before you!! Very much an amazing process of creation! Super job modeling the hull, wing, and nacelle pieces! Love ya!!! Meredith Meredith Elaine Wilson - MeredithLand PS - I will be on vacation February 12 through March 3 - Woo-Hoo!!!!!!
