Description

This hasn't quite turned out as I expected, though I'm still very pleased with it. I envisioned this scene at nighttime with the moon sparkling on the water...but I can't get a good night scene from Bryce - more practice required I think! All my own work (except the terrain - "Upthrusts" by Jonathan Cummings) including the telescope which is actually quite detailed. All done in Bryce 5.5 except the sig. Nonetheless, I hope you enjoy this - all comments our welcome - thanx for taking the time to make them. Not sure if this is a relaxing image or not - just the thought of climbing all those steps (600 of them) to take some astronomical observations leaves me quite breathless! :-) PS: also posted a fairly major update to "Theatre of the Spirit" and a minor update to "Mother Earth" in my gallery if you are interested.

The work is quit intriguing. If its moon reflecting on water in a night sky you want, you might try going into the Sky&Fog editor and selecting the Because the night atmosphere, then create a water plane and use the Shiny and still water (if you rise the camera to a higher altitude you will see a ripple pattern). Now for the moon light just go to your lights and use the spherical radial light and go into it and set the light level to about 425ish. Raise it up to a height that produces the soft oval reflection you want, and then start adding your objects. You may have to play around a bit to get exactly what youre looking for but I gotten good results this way. Hope this is of some help:-)..(OH, it goes without saying, haze lvl is always set at 0)

awesome idea!! This hasn't quite turned out as I expected, though I'm still very pleased with it. I envisioned this scene at nighttime with the moon sparkling on the water...but I can't get a good night scene from Bryce - more practice required I think! you could put any nght scene picture on a 2d planel and make it large enogh to cover back ground. to make it reflect on water better mack it 2-3% transparent . and put a radial light behind moon in picture. leave atmosphere on if you want fog or mist

I also find it difficult to do good convincing night scenes. I usually have to do it in post. But this is a great piece. Excellent

Even if you're not afraid of heights, you will be by the time you reach the top... if you can even make it. Then the wind starts to blow and the tower starts to sway ...

It's about time! I love your fanciful images and this is cool because you can just barely make out the mountains in the background. It makes me feel like I need a parachute to view it.

To me it is quite a surreal style image. I really like the angle/POV and the sense of height and also the sense of balance. At that height the wind must be rather strong, which adds to a vertigo feeling. Excellent stuff. I also really like all those steps. The wireframe with them mustive been a challenge. I always enjoy your work.
