Description

First I want to say this is THE best sci-fi show ever (so-far that is). I dont know why I waited so long to do this model but it was truly fun to study Zioc's model and reverse engineer my own version. I'm sure there will be subtle differences but it's pretty close. I gleened what I could from the internet and the TV show to create my version. I may do a Battlestar Pegasus or the Picon Shipyards with Battlestars being contructed, next. The model was made using lofted/extruded splines and deformation grids. Simple once I studied Zoic's design. Model specs: 988,710 polys (539,582 verts) 377 objects 74 lights 7 texture maps (including background) Renderer: Mental Ray Approx. time to complete: 20 hours I'm going to optimize and refine the model(add more details and improve textures,lighting and render quality) over time. I can probably get it under 500k polys. Hats off to the artists at Zoic, great design and great show.
