Ha, haaa.. You've got me coughing now, Rozanne. He looks a lot like an old student acquaintance of mine from the late '60s, who virtually sleepwalked through his 'finals'. Even on his bad days he could somehow make it to the Mens' Union after the exams. Apparently Glasgow has relics of St. Valentine in a Franciscan church in the Gorbals area, south of the River Clyde. Last year Glasgow City Council tried to promote Glasgow as the 'City of Lovers'. However Valentine was 'demoted' from the canon of Catholic saints recently, due to a lack of historical records, it seems. He was replaced by two Slav brothers Cyril and Methodius who are heroes of both the Roman and Orthodox flocks. Doesn't have quite the same feel as sending encoded Valentines around the school as a wean. Cyril invented the Cyrillic alphabet used by the Slav churches, and some Slav nations. He should be Patron Saint of Teaching Children how to Write, I suppose. Boring, I know. Apologies, John.

Dear Rozanne, HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!!!!! I survived another day - at least physically - some unkind folks have a few questions about my sanity - but then thats not particularly a new experience!!! Despite my own tacky ill-advised comments, my simulator instructor didnt put a simulated missile through the wing! Of course, that might have been less painless!!! I dealt with a lot of problems in the afternoon session!! Mostly just minor things like engine failures, fires, depressurization, hydraulic failures, electrical failures, jammed control surfaces, etc.!! A lot of fun!!! While Im on vacation and doing pilot training, Im going to need to continue doing a lot of cut and pasting with just a tiny little real comment added!! Im really sorry, but I just dont have the time right now to write my usual wacky stuff! Ill be back on March 3rd!! You've always got a funny take and funny picture!!! I can't image what San Velentino could have looked like - actually, I'm sure if there really was a "St. Valentine" - seems to be some question about that!!! Super Valentine picture regardless!!!!!!
