The images I have chosen to show on Renderosity are just a small sample of my 2D vector and 3D CGI artwork. Interested viewers are invited to also visit my personal website: http://www.dcmstarships.com BIO I enjoy creating original designs of speculative starships, space stations, and futuristic architecture. I started out using TrueSpace for 3D modeling and rendering. Now, I use Rhino5 for 3D modeling and rendering. 2D touch up work on my images is done with Corel Draw and Corel Photo-Paint. For backgrounds, I have used Hubble Space Telescope photos, Universe Image Creator, Lunar Cell and various Photoshop tools provided by fellow Renderosity artists. In addition to making my own artwork, I enjoy reviewing the work of other 3D CGI artists, especially those also doing spaceships. I try to support my fellow Renderosity artists by making supportive comments on those images that catch my eye. I like to buy science fiction themed 3D CGI parts and custom photoshop brushes from the Renderosity Marketplace as another way to support my fellow artists.

Always a pleasure seeing your craft. One critical comment, and this is from a tactical and not artistic point of view, I would think that once someone has a fleet of ships in space they would stop thinking of combat in 2D and start thinking in 3D, having all your ships moving along the same plane just seems a little short sighted. By the way, Love the background!

Dang, MWS beat me to that comment. Still, Starfleet and the Empire make the same mistake, so don't feel bad. These are an impressive series. I feel like I'm looking at stills from a Babylon 5 spinoff.

I agree that 3D formations make more sense for spacecraft. However, it is tougher to depict a 3D formation and not have the ships look like more randomly space than they really are. Having done my best with that approach for my other images in this series, I chose the more tradional 2D formation for this one so that the shape of the overall formation would be very clear.

Cool. Do you have detailed versions of the gunboats and the like. Might be cool seeing something that is not huge. Have you played Homeworld?

The ships get a bit lost in front of that amazing background fine idea tho and well thought out formation
