Description
I suddenly felt like doing a classic renaissance thing. This is the result.
There is a logical problem with the title. Although the title is "Ariel and Belial", Belial is actually to the left and Ariel to the right. But just as you say "Good and Evil", and not the reverse, it would be contrary to tradition to mention Evil first. However, traditionally Evil is to the left and Good is to the right (Good=Right), so the figures are placed as they must be. Additionally, the attack flows to the right, which is the natural direction of action (as it is the direction in which we read). The consequence is, of course, that the viewer is required to know that Ariel is the name of an angel, and Belial is the name of a devil. Mythology can be tricky!

wow, this is surreal and I love the direction of the huge sunlight. this is well done.

This is a well-used and wonderful concept. You have done a good job with it. In most of these scenes, "evil" is portrayed with a mean or angry look. Yours looks like he is grinning with satisfaction that he is about to dispose of "good." That is not a bad thing. Your "good" almost looks too sexy. But again, I'm not sure that is a bad thing. The only suggestion I have is her hair. That really does not work.

Thanks for your comments. I did have my doubts about the hair, but I do think it works. It looks a bit stylized, but I don't think that's important. The main thing is that it underscores her defensive movement towards the right and keeps the image from being static - and is mirrored in the putrid cloud behind Belial. As for Good being too sexy - that is interesting. Does Good have to follow a puritan standard, and if so, why? Very often you see Evil portrayed with sex appeal. Is sex evil?

Well, I took another look, tried something else, and Wales was right. The hair was much too messy. Now it flows along the body and seems much more gentle and soft. Thanks!

most awesome..... :)

I know nothing of the myth of the two but thought Ariel would be the angel, wonderful scene. I like the balance of the two figures in this battle.
