Description

Still a beginner trying to work with models. I am having problems; seems Bryce imports 3ds models in bits and peices. This model came in so broken up that I have been working for about a month to peice it all back together. Once that was done, the texture maps did not scale correctly to the object, and that too became another arduous exercise. Am I doing something wrong or is this just a Bryce anomaly? Anyways, not much of a scene, I was just thrilled to have put this thing together and map it correctly; so rushed to post!

Hi SavantNoir. As beginner is going very well. Bryce has some deficiencies to import some objects. If the objects be built in an only block, it will be impossible to separate them to apply the textures correctly. I am creating my own models for castles starting from the own bryce using primitive forms. In Free stuff it goes Bryce some they exist examples (.obp) that I created, access and use them. The parts of the models can be disaggregated and new applied in accordance texture your need and taste. Your model is great, very well done. Congratulations.

might try importing into d?S then export as object. or try importing into posray and export as object its free. allso might try acutrans 3d file converter and convert to object. or the hard way pull the peaces back to geting in bryce and save as .obp i hate the last one myself as my eye sites very bad so close is all i can get. but a very goot newby work by any standard!!! where did you get that model?

model was from http://scifi3d.theforce.net/ (regardless where i make the .sds file, it still always comes into Bryce in pieces. (Lightwave comes in upside down). Only format that seems to work is .dxf (no textures). I either work with pieces, or work with textures.so that by the time i get done working on JUST the model, I've exhausted myself as to think what to do with the darn thing. Right now I am just fixing models, and then at some future date when I learn how to work Bryce more fully; will try using them in a nice scene.

Very nice architecture, very dramatic. I would love to see this in a "richer" surrounding.

Very well modelled - these towers are very good indeed: very stylish! Well rendered too. Agree with Rutra - some richer surroundings would really show the towers off much better. At a quick glance I would say that you could certainly model these in Bryce anyway without having to resort to 3DS, Lightwave etc. Probably quicker than spending a month rebuilding them! Though Bryce doesn't have the modelling capabilities of something like Lightwave, its certainly capable of expressign this style of architecture.
