I have been rendering large scale with high ppi since I've been preparing images for print. I'm currently designing 2x6 ft banners to go on light poles and 4x6 ft murals for door decorations. I'd love to get 24x30 in. in a gallery though. TYVM for all the advice!

I fully agree with Dennis! I could just read that you will be soon a pilot! Wowwww what a fantastic feeling to be on board of a plane piloted by a blond pilot! The turnover of the airline will rise like hell!!!

You're starting to make me believe that you might just pull this off. I still don't know how much of a market there is for digital art, but I've got a feeling if anyone can change that it's you! You seem to be one of those people that once they decide to do something finds some way to make it happen. I damn sure wouldn't want to get in your way1 I think I'd end up trampled like Brandelhurst! Go far it, Meredith!!

Pick you subject, Meredith, and fill the frame with it - get rid of everything else that is not part of the story. I applaude especially to this - and would go even further: Get rid of all overcrowded environment or focus on one of both, person or landscape/room. Don't try to tell the story by adding a lot of hints (Vicky naked with a sowrd in a temple with a crying slave girl kneeling in front of her). It is so alluring to use everything your runtime offers you in one piece but in most (not in all) instances it makes the work look "cheap". In my example the crying girl would do, maybe you can add an arm with a sword - but you would not even need a wall to show what's going on here and to add a lot of drama to the scene. About the price: Yes - and no. You can make junk from a good image by selling it too cheap. But you can't turn junk into art by charging an exaggerated price. I will never forget a framed piece of canvas I saw last year. It showed some brown rectangles and a dried culm of grass was pasted to it. A brass-sign told me that it showed a "Moose in Norway". The price was 950 Euro (1250 $). People had a lot of fun with it and guessed who the artist could be. Many said it must be a woman telling everybody: "My husband is a dentist and I'm doing art now. I have had two exhibitions in his office!!". If this sound mean, than you've got what I wanted to express LOL

I would buy the $50 car, because I'm cheap and my husband is a skilled mechanic, but I get your point! When I was handpouring candles and selling them at arts and crafts fairs, we started off charging very little, but enough to make a good profit because we bought our supplies in bulk. Everyone loved them, but many didn't buy. We raised the prices and more people bought. You get what you pay for.

You have done an excellent job of researching and creating this again. I am sure that you will make it because you realize that this is just like starring any other business and requires a lot of hard work and careful planning. If others will follow your lead they too can make it. Go, Meredith, go!!!!

I'm still not sure about that car example. After all, most people buy cheap computers instead of expensive ones, even if the cheap will work worse... Not to say, that some people will try to steal the car... The only thing I'm sure about fine art is that I'm not doing it. 8-) Great work.

Looks like you've got it all figured out, though I still think the advertising market would be much easier for all but a very skilled minority around here to enter. Seriously, I've seen ads made with stuff that EVEN I HAVE in my runtime and at a quality level that even I wouldn't post here. For the many artists here who want to make money, but aren't ready for the fine art crowd, that might be a better route to start in.
