Description

A pillar in St. Isaac's Cathedral in St. Petersburg, struck by something, probably a shell fragment during WWII. Thanks for looking.

A lot less damaged than the Parthenonon by modern explosives. The marble and craftsmanship hold this as easily as they were quarried and tooled.

St. Petersburg...how cool! Yes, there must be lots of these that managed to survive scattered all over Europe. Nice closeup!

Excellent capture Aaron, probably left like this as a reminder to people of the destruction and ugliness of war. So many people, beautiful buildings and works of art were destroyed, a real shame. Well done!

I imagine with the direction of the spalling marble it was that. I like the appearance of this because of the lighting.
