I cannot thank you enough for your brilliant comments for "Two.." I am so pleased you liked it.
As some of you know I am a great admirer of Georgia O'Keeke, so this is my O'Keefes's eye view of a Poppy (Papaver).
It fascinates that the beautiful poppy is the cause of so much good and bad, it provides pain relief in the form of morphine and cause pain in the form of opium and heroin - what a strange irony.
Enjoy your weekend and thanks for stopping by to look

How right you are about causeing and preventing pain My father gave morphine to his patients (he was a Dr) and gave himself the heroin on occasions

Beautiful poppy colours and form. Yes it does cause some problems but I still grow them out of sight of the poppy thieves as they are so pretty.

Such power from a little flower! This image projects that power with it's vibrant reds and strong lines.. yet still appears fragile. Most beautiful!

What Marx originally labelled "The Opium of the People" also causes much pain and relief :)

How can anything so beautiful bring such evil devastation to so many young lives, I do not know. The red poppy of Flanders Fields has been designated a symbol in my Country, to commemorate the fallen in the first world war and subsequent wars. Your incredible image makes me wonder why anyone can be so dissatisfied with the wonderful world we live in that they feel the need to ascape somewhere else.
