Description

Here's another recruiting poster, this time meant to show off my Martian fighter design. It's hard to make "curvy" models in Bryce, but I'm stubborn. And it looks a little well, buggy, but that's what you get when form follows function... Thanks for viewing and commenting. (Sorry about the pun) --- The FS-32 "Condor" was the first light fighter authorized by the newly established Martian Imperial Navy. Designed by Antoni Karnaki, the first production vessels entered service in late 2518, just in time for the Belter War. Much to the Navy and its designer's chagrin, the FS-32's distinctive appearance quickly led to the adoption of its unofficial name, the "Blowfly". Type: Single Crew Tactical/Recon Fighter Length: 12m Width: 6m Height: 6m Mass: 40t dry, 100t wet, 135t loaded Reaction Fuel: MSMH 6-phase concentrate Armaments: 2x 3m 10gW .10nm glaser - effective range 125,000km 2x 1m 1gW .15nm glaser - effective range 30,000km 2x 6 barrel 50mm magcoil 10kps launchers - 5,000rpm - 2400 rounds each 1x 6 barrel 50mm magcoil 3kps launcher (rear) 5000rpm - 1200 rounds 2x 1.5x5m combat drone mounts Engines/Performance: 4x 250gW Allegori P10 HeDe Fusion plants (70tW hours each) 1x 6mW GEW AX14 Fission APU (.5tW hours) 4x 300kN 165,000isp Allegori P10A fusion drives - max thrust = 120 tons 16x 500kN 50,000isp Allegori P10B plasma burners - max thrust = 800 tons 24x 100kN 40,000isp Narphram BXC plasma thrusters - max thrust = 40 tons per axis Max performance = 1481kps (wet) 950kps (loaded) Doctrine: FS-32s were deployed as screening elements during deceleration maneuvers and battle preparation. Taking position in a forward screen, separated by 120,000 km, the fighters formed an interlocking mesh in front of a task force, allowing early detection of incoming vessels and ordinance. Evaluation: Despite generally good maintenance records and excellent fire control, the FS-32 proved unable to withstand a line of battle. While well-suited to encounters with Belter gunboats, the fighters faired poorly against larger vessels, often suffering critical hits glaser hits before they could close to effective range. A high heat signature made detection of active FS-32s trivial for Belter corvettes and larger vessels. - excerpt from wikipedia galactica, Mars edition.

Wow, great crafts, lots of detail.... Those craft really do look a fly, especially the ones that are airborn at the top.
