Description

What hath God wrought? I'm relatively familiar with assorted cacti, but this bizarre specimen really stopped me short in my tracks while meandering through the mean streets of my locale. Actually, I'm just assuming it belongs to the cacti family. It could be a hostile biological entity from outer space, ala Invasion of the Body Snatchers. It immediately reminded me of either intestines, the cords and cables under my computer desk, or a boa constrictor wannabe enveloping its prey. From past experience, I know there are those of you out there that see this oddity occasionally, all the time, or at least used to see it all the time; perhaps even have it growing in your yard. Thanks for stopping by, and have a nice Sunday dinner!

It certainly is very exceptional and not seen here in South Africa either. It even has an artistic character with all the curving shapes and textures. Well captured.

I have a similar one growing in my front yard. It mulitiplies so fast that today I was hacking huge pieces off of it just so my roses had room to start spreading out again. The difference is that mine has polka dots on it instead of feely things. I think they call mine a varigated rufflied leaf dotted swiss - a member of the prickly pear family I hear. Great shot!
